Jr FIRST Lego League Expo 2012

The Region 2000 Jr. FIRST LEGO League Expo will be held April 28, 2012 at Timberlake Christian School.  Many Regional Jr. FLL teams have been conducting meetings since February to prepare their team for the Expo event.  The schedule for the Expo event has just been released.

Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) captures young children’s inherent curiosity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of science and technology. Jr. FLL features a real-world Challenge, solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, student teams work with LEGO elements and moving parts to build ideas and concepts and present them for review.

Here are some of the details for Junior FIRST:

  • The teams are composed of 2-6 children ages 6-9
  • Teams typically meet 6-8 times
  • The season culminates with the Lynchburg Regional Junior FIRST LEGO Expo (non-competitive sharing and fun!).
  • Jr. FIRST teams will do basic research and build a solution to a challenge based on the theme “Snack Attack,” related to food safety.

The 2012 Region 2000 Jr. FLL Expo event is expecting over 30 teams and 250 participants.
